Hyperbeam is a nimble animation studio led by director Kai Higham. Functioning fluidly between solo practice and full-scale production house, Hyperbeam adapts to the needs of each project — whether that means Kai handling everything from storyboard to final delivery, or assembling a bespoke team from a trusted network of top-tier designers and animators.
You’ll find Hyperbeam’s work lighting up Rod Laver Arena during the Australian Open, in George Watsky’s DOT XXX music video, and across campaigns for brands like Grill’d, Cotton On, University of Melbourne, and IAG — to name a few.
This is a comission by US based rapper Watsky and came on the back of a project producing the artwork for the Album Cover on his record "INTENTION". Watsky is one of the most comitted and inspiring artists and one of the most fun collaborations to date.
During our video calls about the album cover he was staying in a giant warehouse in LA. Inside of which he was producing a music video for every single track on the album. We asked, why don't we make one with animation too? What followed is below.
