Hyperbeam is a nimble animation studio led by director Kai Higham. Functioning fluidly between solo practice and full-scale production house, Hyperbeam adapts to the needs of each project — whether that means Kai handling everything from storyboard to final delivery, or assembling a bespoke team from a trusted network of top-tier designers and animators.
You’ll find Hyperbeam’s work lighting up Rod Laver Arena during the Australian Open, in George Watsky’s DOT XXX music video, and across campaigns for brands like Grill’d, Cotton On, University of Melbourne, and IAG — to name a few.
We were tasked with reinterpereting a brand refresh for IAG by Future Brand. They'd come up with a bold and exciting appraoch to lean completely into the brand purple and designed a set of 2D vector shapes made of swirling lines to suit.
Our job was to bring the 3D interpretation of those to life. That meant a serious excercise in precision. Lighting and subtlety of movement were everything in this case project. We wanted the weight and texture of these elements to speak volumes at first glance.
