About

Hyperbeam is a nimble animation studio led by director Kai Higham. Functioning fluidly between solo practice and full-scale production house, Hyperbeam adapts to the needs of each project — whether that means Kai handling everything from storyboard to final delivery, or assembling a bespoke team from a trusted network of top-tier designers and animators.

You’ll find Hyperbeam’s work lighting up Rod Laver Arena during the Australian Open, in George Watsky’s DOT XXX music video, and across campaigns for brands like Grill’d, Cotton On, University of Melbourne, and IAG — to name a few.

Gentle Mood

The concept for this series was to reverse engineer the aesthetic of Aesop and build upon it in Cinema 4D with Octane, aiming to achieve something teetering the line between photo realism and something slightly altered, or muted in such a way that it would be consistent with the brands calming mood. This meant dialing down reflections and playing with variations of backlighting products to alter what might be the default information received in a photograph and taking it somewhere slightly different in subtle ways.
